Stomach Flattening Exercises
With the end of winter comes the start of beach body season. For some this can be a great time to show off the great body you've been working so hard on, but for some of us it means that it's time to get back in shape and fight off the winter bulge. I'm getting ready to show you my top 4 stomach Flattening Exercises. These stomach flattening exercises will have you back in shape with a little hard work.
Stomach Flattening Exercise #1 Plank
This is one of my favorite stomach flattening exercises, and you will need to lie on a completely flat surface, such as the floor or a board. You will be lying on your stomach, I recommend using a towel to cushion your knees. Now you'll want to make your elbows be positioned below your shoulders making a 90 degree angle. Now lift your body up off the floor so that your lower body is supported by your toes, while your upper body remains supported by your elbows. Your body should now make almost a 90 degree angle. Hold this position for a good 20 seconds and then stop. Repeat this 5 times and you'll feel a good burn. (You'll probably "feel" it the first time, but keep repeating it really shred your abs.)
Stomach Flattening Exercise #2 Side Plank
Of all the stomach flattening exercises this is probably the second most effective, and for good reason. This is a variation on the previous stomach exercise, and begins in the same position as the last exercise. Once you are in the correct position, move to your right side and keep all other factors the same. Your torso should be supported with your right forearm. You will have to slightly raise your hips and roll your feet so that your left foot is on top of your right foot. The only difference between this stomach flattening exercise and the last is that you are now on your right side. Put your had on your hip and repeat this exercise for 20 seconds 5 times.
Stomach Flattening Exercise #3 Ball Roll
Upon first glance you may think that this is one of those stomach flattening exercises that deal with a swiss ball, however, this exercise does not require a swiss ball because you will be acting as the ball! First, you will need to sit on the floor and hug your knees to your chest. Roll back just a little bit so you are now balancing on your tail bone and your feet are off the floor, with your toes pointing downward. Pull your abdominals inward while rolling onto your lower back and the upper part of your tail bone. Contract your abs and pull yourself back to the position you started in. Repeat this exercise to shred those abs.
Stomach Flattening Exercise #4 Standing Crossover
This is one of very few stomach flattening exercises which you will need to stand up to do. Position your feet a few inches apart from each other. Now put your arms out to the sides of your body and bend your elbows at a 90 degree angle so your fingers are pointing to the sky and your palms are facing forward. Contract your abs and lift your right knee toward your left elbow, and at the same time bring your left elbow down toward your right knee. Touch your joints together and repeat this exercise for 5 sets.
