Bypass Pipe
My faucet is leaking water under the sink where the drain plunger inserts (small rubber piece)?
Not all of the water from the sink is making it down the drain pipe, but rather it's leaking through the rubber piece where the long silver pipe that is part of the plunger is inserted. I'd like to know how the water is bypassing the drain pipe and how do I fix this problem?

Thank you everyone for your suggestions. I'll try to replace the rubber gasket first, since the other gaskets in my master bathroom seem to not be worn out as the one in the secondary bathroom where the leak is occurring. All I now need to know is how do I get the old gasket out and insert the new one? Do I just pop it up and out and then insert the new one thru the same opening or is it more complicated than I make it?

the best thing to do is go to home depot and buy a pop up assembly they make a universal one that will work on all the brand names very easy to install,just go in reverse of what you do to remove the old one
